UFO theme in the arts since the late 19th century

Since ancient times, around the years 1912 to 1917, the theme of Martians and aliens has been present in the works. E.R. Burroughs, the author of Tarzan, was one of these.

In the cinema, it was present as a theme in the films Metropolis (1926) and La Mujer en la Luna (1928). In Russia, 110 years ago, the literature on the extraterrestrial theme was developed and an example is a novel “In Another Planet” (1896) where a Martian civilization with current inventions is described.

First occurrences of OVNIS sightings

The first documentation of a UFO was produced by Oscar Rey Brea, a military man, and scientist from A Coruña, who is considered the father of ufology in Spain. In the Coruña Brotherhood remember that Rey, after finishing high school, left his home volunteered in the Blue Division. He was fighting for two years on the Russian front. It was in Pushkin, Soviet Union, where he had his first sighting in 1943.

While the Blue Division soldiers were in a bunker during a Russian attack, they could observe a “disk-shaped ship” that stood still on the fighter jets, somewhat like watching them. But after a long period of time, it disappeared at great speed. This event was later narrated by the ufologist Antonio Ribera in the book “Encuentros con humanoides”, published by Planeta in 1982.

It was on February 10, 1943, when the Polar star operation begins, where the Russians try to break the siege of Leningrad and thus free the road to Moscow. The battle of Krasny Bor arises where it is prevented from breaking the lines and the road could be opened, the Soviets had many casualties.

After the heroic action of Krasny Bor, the King sighting occurred, while the bombardment of the Spanish cantonment took place. They thought it could be a Russian or German observation apparatus, but no air force had anything like it.

Later, in October 1945, in the Cantones of A Coruña, Rey’s parents saw, like their neighbors, a flying object of great luminosity flying over the city. This sighting was associated with some novel secret weapon related to the Second World War. For Oscar Rey what flew through the center of A Coruña in October 1945 was a UFO.

On June 24, 1947, at 2:00 PM, when the American Kenneth Arnold, flew his plane from Chelalis to Yakima, Washington, in order to find a plane that had been injured, he had a sighting near Mount Rainer . According to him he describes them as strange circular aircrafts that resemble him “like plates gliding on water”. That is the reason why the term “flying saucer” is coined. Kenneth’s calculations were that they were going at a speed of 2,400 km / h; something unknown until then.

It is in 1947 that the CIA is founded, and from then on an uninterrupted series of sightings have been taking place.

For Oscar Rey the highest frequency of sightings occur when there is greater proximity of the planet Mars. He is considered the true discoverer of the “Biennial Theory” (theory related to the UFO subject).

It is said that as early as 1926, Charles Fort, was considered the first ufologist, but he never cited the UFO phenomenon, nor sighting before the date of King. He only wrote the book “Book of the Damned” related to this subject and it was known that he believed that the lights and objects that were seen in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were creations of other worlds.

Conclusion

The beginnings of these sightings are related around that time, between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, but it must be remembered that in the Bible there are cases of Enoch or Elijah where they are said to have been carried by chariots of fire.

If they have been present since time immemorial, we still do not know it, but it is important to point out that in the writings of remote periods, mention is made of objects and beings that do not agree with what we already know ordinarily on our planet.

Tema OVNI en las artes desde finales del siglo XIX

Desde tiempos remotos, alrededor de los años 1912 al 1917, el tema de marcianos y extraterrestres ha estado presente en las obras. E.R. Burroughs, autor de Tarzán, fue uno de éstos.

En el cine estuvo presente como tema en las películas Metrópolis (1926) y La Mujer en la Luna (1928). En Rusia, hace 110 años, se desarrollo literatura sobre el tema extraterrestre y un ejemplo es la novela “En Otro Planeta” (1896) donde se describe una civilización marciana con inventos actuales.

 

Primeras Incidencias de Avistamientos OVNIS

La primera documentación de un OVNI la produjo Oscar Rey Brea, militar y científico coruñés, y a quien se le considera padre de la ufología en España.

En la Hermandad coruñesa recuerdan que Rey, luego de terminar su bachillerato, se fue de su casa se alistó como voluntario en la División Azul.

Estuvo luchando por dos años en el frente Ruso. Fue en Pushkin, Unión Soviética, donde tuvo su primer avistamiento en el 1943.

Mientras los soldados de la División Azul estaban en un búnker durante un ataque ruso, pudieron observar una  “nave en forma de disco” que se quedó quieta sobre los aviones de combate, algo así como observándolos. Pero luego de un largo periodo de tiempo se desapareció a gran velocidad.

Este suceso fue narrado posteriormente por el ufólogo Antonio Ribera en el libro “Encuentros con humanoides”, editado por Planeta en 1982.

Fue el 10 de febrero de 1943 cuando comienza la operación estrella Polar, donde los rusos intentan romper el cerco a Leningrado y así liberar la carretera hacia Moscú. Surge la batalla de Krasny Bor en donde se impide romper las líneas y que se pudiera abrir la carretera, los soviéticos tuvieron muchas bajas.

Después de la heroica acción de Krasny Bor ocurrió el avistamiento de Rey, mientras sucedía el bombardeo sobre el acuartelamiento español. Creían que podría ser un aparato de observación rusa o alemana, pero ninguna fuerza aérea contaba con algo parecido.

Posteriormente en octubre de 1945, en los Cantones coruñeses, los padres de Rey vieron al igual que sus vecinos un objeto volador de gran luminosidad sobrevolando la ciudad. Este avistamiento se asocio con alguna novedosa arma secreta relacionada a la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Para Oscar Rey lo que sobrevoló por el centro de A Coruña en octubre de 1945 era un OVNI.

El 24 de junio de 1947, a las 2:00 P.M., cuando el norteamericano Kenneth Arnold, volaba su avioneta desde Chelalis a Yakima, en Washington, con el propósito de encontrar un avión que se había accidentado, tuvo un avistamiento cerca del Monte Rainer. Según él los describe eran unas aeronaves circulares extrañas que se le asemejaban “como platos deslizándose sobre el agua”. Es de ahí que se acuña el término “platillo volante”. Los cálculos de Kenneth eran que iban a una velocidad de 2,400 Km/h; algo desconocido hasta entonces.

Es en 1947 que se funda la CIA, y de ahí en adelante han venido ocurriendo una serie ininterrumpida de avistamientos.

Para Oscar Rey la mayor frecuencia de avistamientos ocurren cuando hay mayor proximidad del planeta Marte. Se le considera el autentico descubridor de la “Teoría Bienal” (teoría relacionada con el tema OVNI).

Se dice que ya para el 1926, Charles Fort, era tenido como el primer ufólogo, pero que nunca citó el fenómeno OVNI, ni avistamiento antes de la fecha de Rey. Solamente escribió la obra “Libro de los condenados” relacionado a este tema y se conocía que él creía que las luces y objetos que se veían a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX eran creaciones de otros mundos.

 

Conclusión

Los inicios de estos avistamientos se relacionan alrededor de esa época, entre finales del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX, pero hay que recordar que en la Biblia se citan casos de Enoc o Elías donde se dice que fueron llevados por carros de fuego.

Si han estado presentes desde tiempos inmemorables, todavía no lo sabemos, pero es importante señalar que en los escritos de épocas remotas se hace mención de objetos y seres que no concuerdan con lo que ya conocemos ordinariamente en nuestro planeta.
